It’s not all bad news in my garden. In spite of pests, drought and scorching heat, most vegetables are thriving and many flowers are in bloom. I offer a few photos from a stroll through Sunday’s garden, as evidence that not all is lost.

    • I was over there Saturday–beautiful. It looks like he’s watering like crazy to keep up with the heat and drought. (He wasn’t home.) I’m going back tomorrow to take some photos and pick up a couple more varieties of daylily. They’re such dependable plants!

  1. Your pictures are encouraging!! Thanks! Please tell me what the flower is that is third from the bottom of your pix posted here… light purple/periwinkle, almost!
    Been enjoying your blog. Thanks.

    • Oh dear…I had been calling that one mallow for years, until I picked up a real mallow this year. I’m not exactly sure what that is! I’ll try to figure it out, or maybe another reader will tell us. It sure is pretty, and problem-free. It’s about 30 inches tall, and forms a nice, wide clump of flower stems.

What do you think?
